Portable Multi-functional Audio Boombox, USB MP3!

I bought this device because it was a portable way to play audio from a USB flash drive. I'm a bit old-fashioned when it comes to audio and I enjoy ripping CDs to .mp3's or .m4a's onto my USB stick. I use that in my car and now I can listen to my same music on this portable unit. I was skeptical that it would be difficult to browse and select music, but the simple screen is able to display folder and file names (within limits) so that if you organize your audio files right, you can easily enjoy playing it on this boombox. It seems like Sony took time into coming up with a simple way to do this, plus is able to stream from a bluetooth enabled device as a lot of folks do from their phones. It also has a CD player that works and is able to rip CDs right to your USB drive. The radio picks up stations nicely and has 3 presets that are easy to access. A word of caution - the unit is very lightweight and I'm sure it wouldn't take much to break it, but if you are gentle with your things, I think it will be fine. I don't think this would be good for children or those who handle things roughly. I like the way the functions are simple yet it's amazing how many ways you can play audio. You can even dump mp3 files onto a CD-R and play it on here the same way as you would with USB, but USB is probably a simpler choice these days. I feel the sound is good for such a small light boombox with 2W speakers. If you are expecting it to sound like a $600 BOSE then this would not be for you. It's not that deep of a base, but it's good enough for my needs. I feel having it is more a convenience of being able to play your audio in a device that is MORE functional than just a "dumb" bluetooth speaker. They should carry these in stores in my opinion, but I had to order online. I'm glad Sony is still making something like this at an affordable price.

Just as expected

Quality boombox perfect for what it will be used for. Purchased it for my mother to listen to her cd's and I can also stream via bluetooth from my phone. Radio also has better reception than he other radio this is replacing. Works perfect.

Great compact boombox

I love the compact size which fits perfectly on my desk. The sound is amazing considering the size. The bass boost works great too. It's easy to use and I can use it for Blue Tooth also. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for quality sound without paying a huge price. I previously had a Sony boom box that was more than 20 years old and just recently started to skip when using the CD player. But it was used almost everyday by someone in our family and carried around indoors and outdoors so we certainly got our money's worth from it.

great sound on a budget

just bought this and have not used all the features like usb and copy. Sound quality is super great and easy to set up bluetooth to play music from cell phone; only problem is only one cell can have bluetooth activated but feature is good.

Nice audio system.

I bought this a little over a month ago and was very pleased with it until a few days ago when it stopped playing cds clear through. I am greatly disappointed.

Now on my third boombox!!!!

Luckily I bought the 2 year warranty for this product. The cd player played for a few months, then stopped. I am now on the third one, and this one is going bad. Why does this happen? I have an old sony cd boombox, not mp3 version, that is still working great. I guess I will be going up to the store with this one and turning it in for a new one.

CD player failed

This was a Christmas present from my wife. Unit has very good sound, and the CD player worked for about 8 months. Then it began shutting off 40-50 seconds into a CD. Read article 41268 about this problem. Tried commercial and home-burned CDs, and same thing happened. Cleaning CD didn't help. Very disappointing. Find the LCD controls hard to read.

Machine consistently fails

I am so disappointed that I didn't read the reviews on this sight before I wasted money on this product for my Grandfather. He started having problems with the CD player pretty soon after purchased but I blamed it on his own lack of familiarity with the machine. Now it's obvious and I feel terrible I doubted him and that he can't enjoy one of his life's last pleasures since he's 85! The CD player constantly malfunctions. Will quit after playing half of one song. "Reading" will flash on the screen no matter the type of disc or if it's empty. And to make matters worse, when the machine is having this hissy fit, the radio tuner won't search for stations. None of the FM radio buttons respond. I can't comment on the USB or Bluetooth features and their reliability as we have not tried them. My Grandfather and I have been fans of Sony products for years; always believing that their product's quality was unsurpassed. I am so very heartbroken and disappointed.
